LE ROY — Ranked teams from two different classifications hit the court here Tuesday night. Three of the four quarters were just what fans wanted  — close.

But Olpe High’s Eagle girls rocked their hosts, Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans in a 23-6 second-quarter run. The Eagles, ranked third in Class 2A, only had a one-point over the 10th-ranked Class 1A, Division I Lady Titans, 12-11.

That second-quarter surge powered the Eagle girls to a 64-44 victory.  The Lady Titans regrouped and played a solid second half. It was enough.

In the Lyon County League contest, Ashton  Isch fired in 18 points for the Lady Titans, which included four three-point field goals. Sarah Webb nailed 6 of 7 free throw attempts on her way to 14 points.

Kendyl McDougald hit three treys for Olpe. She led the Eagles with 17 points. Emily Samuels fired in four threes, scoring 14 and Janae Haag had 13 points.

IT WAS  just the opposite when the Titans and Eagle boys played. Only one of the four quarters was close. The Eagles defeated the Titans 39-25.

Southern Coffey County led 6-1 at the end of the first quarter. Olpe turned the tables, outscoring SCCH 11-2 for a 12-8 halftime lead.

Olpe held a 15-12 scoring edge over the Titans in the third quarter. The Eagles finished the job with a 12-5 run in the fourth quarter.

Aaron True scored 10 points for Southern Coffey County. The Titans were 5 of 15 from the free-throw line.

Toby Smith scored 14 and Chance Stout added 10 points for Olpe. The Eagles went 10 of 18 from the line.

The Titan teams host Hartford Friday.
